Looking Back For A Few Laughs.

Found this quote in an old Velonews...priceless..

"Because of my illness shortly before the worlds it was almost all over. I spent one night and half a day on the toilet. That cause some of my blood values to change."

-Stefan Schumacher, third place at 2007 Worlds on explaining his "irregular" pre-race test results.

DZ Goes Aero At Paris-Tours

So this was pretty sweet I had to put it up. Zabriskie goes the skinsuit, Zipp 1080's and lowers the stem for Paris-Tours all in the name of flat out aerodynamic speed in a one day road race. That's rad. And he bridged across the 4min gap to the break. Didn't win the day, only 200km or so in the break... but full props for the commitment to cheat the wind.

Call It What You Will.

This is blog post number 270. A lot of people try and gee me up to get a my-face, spacebook or a my bookspace. I think that is right? To be honest, after 270 posts and keeping this thing rolling with random adventures sure is enough for this little black duck to look after. I actually had a bit of a wander through some old archived posts the other day in search of a photo. The cool thing I realised, was that having this blog is a nice little way to record a bit of history in a nice little neat package. I mean my memory sucks pretty badly, so to have a little record of fun stuff that happened back in 06 till now was pretty rad. So thanks for reading. I never thought it would have got this far.

And so to this week...work continues on at Yeti Cycles. It's pretty cool. I mean it's Yeti...I can't really think of too many other bike brands that just have such a rad history with so much of it involved with racing and building high quality products.

Cross racing has begun over the oceans to the northern hemispheres. Raby sent me some pics of his current foray into the world of cold temps, mud, skinny knobbies and hoofing it over planks of wood.

Looking good Shagger...left, right, left..

I must say I am a little jealous...especially sitting in a place filled with these bad boys.....one day soon I hope.
On a final note for today, awesome job to Blood for winning the Sun Tour stage yesterday up Buller, congratulations to Joby and Ashley for tying the knot last weekend, and finally thanks to Bernard Kohl for is services to the sport of cycling. Wanker. Wish they brought the new 4 year ban rule in a little early...over n' out...cw

Weekend Random Ramblings...

Spent some time mtbing round the Nongs yesterday on a borrowed Supercoach special rig. Fun was had but after years spent on the same saddle model and having to switch it up I am walking a little John Wayne style today. Caught the tail end of the Worlds RR footage this morning on everybodys favourite independent and a little kooky late night viewing, non commercial television station that is the only one that shows regular cycling coverage. You know the one. Had already seen the footage of Ballan laying the smack down in the last 3kms but was still as impressive the second time around. The Italians definitely had their shit together for a home country rainbow race and they didn't choke. Hopefully something similar can happen here in 2010.

I miss a real burrito. Anyone who can recommend a decent burrito/Mexican eatery here in Oz (and not at Taco Bill) drop me a comment in the relevant section...it would be greatly appreciated. Have craving, will travel.

Ryan Adams circa Whiskeytown is good stuff. Steve, if you read this the mix you made is still on high rotation and much appreciated. R.A new album with the Cardinals lands in a couple of weeks. Anticpation is high. And they are playing Denver in December. Supporting Oasis. I don't want to talk about it.

Hop To It Soldier.

I guess being at home for two weeks now the shine has worn off. I am missing Kat like crazy. After 6mths of living together and being so close, to once again having her so many thousands of miles away it sucks. Yes there phone/emails/skype and well, thanks those wonders of modern technology, they do make life a little easier. But still it isn't the same. Still, we both agree we would have it like this than to never have met at all. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Work has kicked back into gear and I am enjoying having a job in the bike industry for the first time. Even if it is only temporary. Plus I couldn't be more happier to help out the people and company that have supported me greatly in the past, and a brand that I truly think do some great things. The change back to work has also seen the transition back training again in preparation for the 2009 campaign. I must admit I enjoy training. I enjoy just as much as I enjoy racing. And after spending by far the most amount of days of raced per year in 2008, it's been nice to shift the focus. And also try and shift the focus from reading stuff like this on cn.
