Stand Up And Be Counted.

Despite my high enthusiasm for it right now, this wasn't me or done on the back of my car...looks like someone else has been bitten by the same bug and gone from refueling with petrol to powerbars. I must say a pretty fitting sign to come across in this first week of wearing lycra multiple days in a row.

It dawned on me the other day to think the upcoming 2008 season will mark the 10th year since I started racing bicycles. And i owe it all to the man above for getting me started. Trust the younger brother to follow the older in his footsteps. Somehow, despite the incredible suffering that this sport can bring, lies an incredible journey of self discovery and enjoyment that has taken me places I'd never thought i'd imagine I'd go. All I know is that somewhere deep inside that candle of enjoyment still burns bright.

Style Points.

An exciting day with yet another sunshine filled ride in the morning followed by an afternoon's work cultivating a rather large patch of dirt ready for some grass to grow. Good times, good times. Sore arms, sore arms. So I read with some amusement that half the field in the Beijing five ringed circus trial race went the curbside quiche due to the air pollution there. Awesome, who needs clean air to function anyways eh?


Attended my cousins wedding yesterday, needless to say the Green rocked the place out to the mega with his cream suit and new Juleus Marlo kicks.

And So It Begins...The Ball Rolls.

Waking up this morning to a clear, blue sky nongs day the decision was pretty easy that today was the day shave the forest from the pins, swing the leg back over and hit the roads upon the most efficient transport option known to man. Yep, today was the day to start training again once again, and more importantly the first step towards some bigger and brighter goals for 2008. Kinda liberating when I think about it, I mean the first two letters of goal are go right?

And well, for a 2hr spin in the sun there were definitely some noticeable differences between the last real time spent on the bike back some 4wks ago. It's always a catch 22 the old offy I reckon, you need enough time off to get the head screwed back on and in one piece to wear lycra in public again, but you don't want to leave it too long cause, well, it can be a long hard road back to feeling semi decent again. And the lycra can look pretty, er..full. So today i think I found a happy medium, relaxed from enjoying perhaps the best break ever and yet feeling pretty darn ordinary pedalling the machine, but not to the point where there was a chance i would be spending the night huddled in a far away bus shelter. Yep...lator, cw.

Baby Steps...

Waking up alone for the first time in 3 weeks was a pretty unexciting way to start Thursday the nineteenth..or day one minus Kat as it's otherwise known. I think today it hit me that the roller coaster of this year had come to an end and it's back to life in the Nongs...

So today was the biggest nothing day in a while, pretty rad not to do much other than clean up a garage, a room..learning quickly that riding my bike or doing training related stuff pretty much makes up the majority of my life and hours in the day. Thinking about growing a beard just for something to do..geez its really time to start training again...listening to waay to much Ryan Adams..over & out..cw.

Gimmie Shock Treatment.

Today stank. Yes folks I can tell you all it sucks big time to have to drive your girl to the airport and watch her fly a million miles away. Damn the reliability of the 88' Corolla. Where was the smokey three cylinder beast I had in the past? The last three weeks have been a blast, no doubt about it, some sun, smiles and always good times but I guess Sept. 19th was always looming as a dark day on the calendar with Kat heading back to CO. Hope you have a smooth flight back bub, I miss you.

So here we are, the last week of my off season break and I'm feeling pretty darn good about it. After many biscuits, sushi and pb & j sandwiches consumed I think the body is just about back up to showing a full tank again. Hmm maybe even a little more. Im sure I'll be reminded of that as soon as the road turns upwards and the bib and brace snug a little tighter than normal. Oh yeah, I just landed a first term school gig for 08'. Nice one. The year looks good already. Wading through the new 7 disc, 3 live concerts, 100 song Pearl Jam release, over & out, cw.

Bigger Box Of Tricks

So as I sit here and type this new post I regret to inform that Kat has a new man in her life by the name of Harry...some sort of a wizard I hear..damn..needless to say it's gonna be tough to drag her away from such excitement he creates. Can someone confirm he dies in the last book?

Well life in the off season break has been pretty kind to me so far, lots of days of sun, visiting some cool places and getting a good chance to recharge the batteries..although a few sneaky rides have been nice.

So Kat has been enjoying the sights and sound of Oz, despite the lack of heat coming from a CO summer.

I was able to show off my sensitive side with this little incident on the way up to Bendigo the other day...I think Harry still has the upper edge though... second rate magic act if ya ask me...umm Im off to go practice some card tricks....lator cw.
